Oh yes, LSD. Some of the greatest psychedelic artwork has been created on this drug, and I’d admit that some of my best work was turned out as well while experiencing it’s mind blowing, creative enhancing effects. But it’s been a quite a while since I’ve taken it. Sadly I was arrested for possession of it once leaving a concert years ago, and had to go through some legal stuff that made passing a drug test mandatory. That’s a story for another time, it was quite a while ago and I’ve grown to the point in my artistic ability where I don’t need it, but none the less, here is a little history on LSD blotter art.

Psychedelic art by definition is an artwork made by an artist under the influence of hallucinogenic drugs like LSD and psilocybin (mushrooms). These drugs alter the state of perception of a person. The word “psychedelic” stands for “mind-manifesting.” Kaleidoscopic patterns, spirals, circles, contrasting or bright colors, and morphing objects are often seen in a psychedelic art.
